What is Equinox?

Equinox is a Minecraft server, which hosts a 1:500 scale map of the Earth! Not only that, it also offers an entire custom events system, among a few other gamemodes. This sort of thing is not cheap to run, and as such, we need donations to keep it running. Currently, hosting costs ~60€/mo. If we can get at least 20€/week of recurring donations, we can keep the server going and still have room left over for upgrades!

Why LiberaPay?

OpenCollective has been tremendously difficult to get up and running, primarily because we need to register a legal entity in order to be able to take in donations. We do have a page prepared for if that ever happens, but as of now, we aren't capable of making an OpenCollective page for fully transparent donations (we would love to). LiberaPay doesn't really have the kind of transparency we want, but it's the only solution we found that offers a decent donations platform.

Why is it this expensive?

Minecraft server hosting tends to be tremendously expensive due to growing player counts, large world sizes (it is literally 1:500 scale of the entire Earth after all), decent networking and various other reasons. We need a good server machine in order to be able to run this Minecraft server. It could have been even more expensive if we hadn't used Hetzner, as Hetzner is one of the few cheap hosts which also ensures good quality.
