The GxG Framework, Web Client, and Server attempt to bring to the web a toolkit for creating web applications that is different from most other existing frameworks. GxG uses Ruby exclusively, even in the browser, to allow the author to build these applications.

GxG Framework is an application support framework designed to facilitate application and server construction. It sports a structural database system built on top of an SQL relational database. Currently only MySQL and Sqlite3 are supported, but in theory any relational database may be used and there are plans to expand its reach into more database engines.

GxG Server is built on top of GxG Framework as primarily a “Service Harness” design allowing multiple services to run within the Server and interact with each other while enjoying a common file / db resource base. GxG Server is designed to run exclusively on top of JRuby ( https://www.jruby.org/ ) as parallelism is centered in the Server design, and it is at this point only tested on Ubuntu Server.

GxG Web Client is served up by GxG Server and provides an environment within the browser that can run pure ruby code. The Web Client environment provides a shadow ruby object for each and every html element on the page. Events are trapped and fully available to the ruby code. This Client environment supports deferred execution of code with a pseudo-reactor-pattern event dispatcher – like having nodejs in the browser.
