Hi, I’m Ellen, a performance artist based in Switzerland. I work mostly in public space because I think of art as a service to all. It should be part of our everyday life and reach all of us. That is why I want to release it from institutions (museums, galleries etc.) and the doctrine of perpetuation as well.

COVID19 has worsened my working situation to a great deal. After almost a year, there is still no substantial help for artists residing in Switzerland. Those of us who don’t show their art at bookable events like concerts or plays are not included in the federal relief program. This lowers already lean project funds to almost nothing and makes it much harder to continue work even on a reduced level. I think the arts are needed more than ever to deal with the situation, so I will go on doing projects during this difficult time. But any help would help me carry out much more than I am able to do now.
