The Democratic Tech Fund is building up as a network of people and organisations willing to make the change together. It is a federated, bottom-up organised gift-based fund for democratic tech initiatives in our cities and regions. It comes with a fourfold intention to 1) mobilise awareness towards adoption, 2) curate/build and provide the tech 3) build the community and 4) facilitate the learning and transitioning.

While the tech is important, the real change is cultural, of moving out of our bubbles, learning other ways to care for each other. We welcome everybody to join us on this journey, and connect the many elements that are already there. We explicitly aim to bring together the grassroots with the commons, with the cooperative social and solidarity economy traditions, with free/libre and open source as a precondition.

We're in prototype phase, opening up to people and organisations to become members. Democratic tech requires mutual caring, shared responsibility.
