I develop SHIFROM, an open-source, Android-first messenger for people who need private communication on unreliable or restricted networks. The project is maintained through Willen LLC.

SHIFROM does not require a phone number. Current Android development builds support end-to-end encrypted one-to-one text messages and encrypted voice notes, with Direct WSS, VLESS+REALITY, a Tor text path, and REST fallback. The client uses Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose; the relay is written in Rust. Client and relay code are licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later.

The project is in Alpha 2 and active development. iOS and production web clients are planned, not shipped. SHIFROM uses custom protocol code built on libsodium primitives; it has not received an independent third-party cryptographic audit. The relay handles ciphertext and necessary routing metadata, and can observe timing and message sizes. Field tests on specific networks and configurations do not guarantee access through every carrier, block, or future filtering policy.
